We have a very small but dedicated band of Eucharistic Ministers who assist with the distribution of Holy Communion and, in many cases, take the Blessed Sacrament to sick and housebound parishioners.
Since arriving here, it is evident to me that we really need more parishioners to take on this ministry. That would help us, for example, take Holy Communion again to patients in Hairmyers Hospital. Not a week goes by without calls from people asking for the Eucharist from the hospital.
I have already approached some parishioners and have still to see others to invite them to take on this ministry. If you are asked, please be generous with your response.
